Berliner Philharmonie and Daniel Barenboim’s Grand Piano

Inter 1 in Berlin, October 2007. Everything you have ever wanted to know about the main concert hall of Hans Scharoun's Berliner Philharmonie, with a soundtrack done by the great conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim's --- tuner. The main concert hall is in the shape of a pentagon and the stage is at the center of the hall. The acoustics are excellent; from every seat the sound is nearly equally great. The recording is from the furthest end of the hall. #

Glenn Gould in Conversation (Part 1)

Recorded August 22, 1982, Glenn Gould speaks with Tim Page about Bach's Goldberg Variations. Gould's performace of the Goldberg Variations was what first launched him into the hearts, spirits, and intellect of an international audience, and it is also the piece which was to be the last release of Gould's prior to his unexpected and sudden death in the same year as this interview. #

SAG DOCH AUCH MAL WAS! ODER DAS LUXURIEREN DER BASTARDE

By Hermann Bohlen. "The radio piece, or Hšrspiel, consists of private tape recordings of the sixties and early seventies. At that time, the old fashioned recorders with big reels were widely used among families. They served the same purpose as video does today: to document the development of the kids, dogs and grandparents. Some people also used it as diary or to record anything occurring on the radio which they thought to be important (besides the top-ten). "Sag doch auch mal was!", English for "Say something!" was one of the most common phrases to be found on the recordings. In thrift-stores and fleamarkets Bohlen collected more than 30 hours of material - additional to some twenty hours from his own and friends’ families. In collage- technic, this dirty stuff, the different voices from all over the country, east and west, were arranged to form a big family, portraying a time that for gods sake is over." Born in 1963, Hermann Bohlen is a German sound artist, and radio writer and producer. He is now based in Berlin. His final diploma thesis was on Onomatopoeia in the Chinese language. This record is a classic and we highly recommend you get yourself an original copy on vinyl - visit www.90-prozent-wasser.de #
