Immersion, Marc Behrens

Immersion is a multichannel composition with sounds recorded specifically in a historic water reservoir in Berlin. This circular and arched space resonates in a complex way. Bricks, wooden planks and other construction materials were moved through the building, enhancing the particular sound characteristics. Other sounds used in the piece come from recordings of water boilers, as if hinting to the water that was once stored in the building which has by now evaporated, leaving only a remote memory in the void. This live performance of Immersion was recorded at ‘No ‘Real’ Nuts, No Apples, No Garlic’, presented by Entr’acte and Odradek at Netwerk Centre for Contemporary Art, Aalst, Belgium, October 2007. Marc Behrens is a sound artist based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He will be performing live this Sunday November 11 as a part of Atlantic Waves 2007 at the ICA, London. #
